Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility

As followers of Jesus, we at Manito United Methodist Church strive to be inclusive, physically and emotionally safe, and welcoming to all. We value all life and are proponents of joy, justice and dignity for everyone, including LGBTQI+, immigrants, refugees and people with disabilities. We create genuine community, shared purpose, and practices that connect us to something larger than ourselves.

Manito United Methodist Church regularly goes through an accessibility audit. From this our Inclusivity Committee develops goals to improve access to people who experience all kinds of disabilities.
All of our worship services and special meetings have American Sign Language interpreter services for people in our building and those watching our YouTube channel live or played back later.
We have an Oval Loop System, along with neck loop listening devices, for people who need sound amplification, or who have "T-coil" settings on their hearing aids or cochlear implants.
We have large print bulletins available for every worship service.
The parking lot nearest the northeast corner of our building (off Grand Blvd) has several spaces reserved for motorists and passengers with physical disabilities. This is next to a no-step entrance to our Fellowship Hall and kitchen. An accessible restroom, with a changing table, is just to the left of that entrance.
Manito UMC has a stair lift to help people with certain mobility concerns get to and from our Fellowship Hall and Sanctuary. For those for whom a stair lift is not appropriate, we set up live streaming in the Fellowship Hall.
Our west entrance includes a wheelchair ramp from the northwest parking lot to all rooms on the main level.
